The Problem

A payment system handling 39 transactions per second needed to reach 500 TPS for a high-profile event. Two-week deadline. No API changes allowed. Full PCI compliance required. Three previous consultancies had said it couldn't be done in that timeframe.

What We Did

Systematic profiling to identify actual bottlenecks (not what people thought they were). Caching architecture redesign using Redis. Database optimization. Code path streamlining. Everything wrapped in feature flags so we could safely deploy and roll back if needed.

The Outcome

700 transactions per second. 40% better than the target. Zero downtime during deployment. The event ran successfully, processing millions in transactions.
